In this issue of the NICPRE Quarterly, we are changing the format slightly to combine the Director’s Column with the Editor’s Notes, due to space constraints. There will be no Manager’s Viewpoint in this Quarterly.

With regard to the content of this Quarterly, you’ll find a piece by Ron Ward on the Beef Promotion Checkoff. There’s also an article on reproducibility in three recent studies, supplied by Henry Kinnucan.

We hope that 1998 was a good year for all of you. In 1999, in addition to the Quarterly newsletter, we will begin sending a one page update on NICPRE via e-mail every two months. The one page update is an attempt to vary the format slightly, and to give you the most recent information on current research and programs. If you haven’t done so already, please send us an e-mail request to be included with the list of recipients. You can send your request to av69@cornell.edu. We will also include a survey in the first quarter’s newsletter in order to gain feedback on your preferences regarding format for future issues of the Quarterly.
